1.06 Media Design Center at the Gottesman Libraries
EdLab founded and supports a Media Design Center (MDC) that serves as a resource for the creation of multimedia products for faculty, students, and administration at Teachers College. MDC is a service unit of the Gottesman Libraries.
MDC is a hub for production, and staff engage in all kinds of design and audio/video production work for internal and external clients. They support and document this work with a goal of expanding the community's knowledge of design processes. Documentation is also a vehicle for collaboration on projects within the community.
Located on the fifth floor of Russell Hall at Teachers College, MDC is situated within the EdLab Atelier. This semi-public workspace is home to several functional workgroups. Visitors experience MDC as a temporary home for their projects, as well as a source of expert knowledge on art, design, and production. Based on the atelier model, the physical layout of the Center is meant to encourage collaboration and hands-on, over-the-shoulder instruction.
