When I was young, I spent whole afternoons looking at the world map. With the pencil in my hand, I never tired of drawing the outline of the unknown land and imaging the bottomless pit on the ocean floor or the past civilization lost in the rainforest.
With the great curiosity, I keep explore the real world like an adventurer. But hidden treasure I am looking for is not only in the map but also in my daily life. From China (my motherland) to the USA, from economics (my major in college) to the statistics (what I am learning as master student in Columbia University), I never slow down my step. And then I made my entry into education.
I have two-year experience as the online math and science tutor for the junior middle school students. And I was also the senior partner of HCIA, an education company in China. Through the interaction with the students and the learning experience of my own, I know that education is the great treasure for me and it can also open the windows for everyone in this world.
To find this treasure, I need tools. And that is data science. With techniques such as statistics, machine learning and programming, I can go through the layers of fog and find my way. And having the questions like “What is the hidden reasons?” and “what I can learn from this?” in my heart every day, I can always use these tools to find the answer.
Now, I am thrilled to be part of the applied statistics team at Edlab, to combine the powers of education and data science. In very instance my goal is to bringing the new idea and keeping explore the underlie functionality in learning.
