Doug has an MA in Literacy, Language and Technology from the international and trans-cultural studies department at Teachers College. His research interests include: media literacy education, social action inside and outside of schools, non-formal community-based learning, multilingualism and linguistic landscape/text in public spaces.
In his spare time he takes direct action towards the food production system and participates in NYC Critical Mass/Times-Up bicycle rides.
A California (orange county!) native, he has worked in education and lived in New Orleans, LA, Nagasaki, Japan and Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
He lives in San Diego,CA with his wife, daughter, and son, and teaches multimedia at High Tech High International.
