Joe is a master's student in Anthropology and Education at Teachers College. Before coming to TC, he spent three years teaching video production and media literacy at an alternative high school on the west side of Chicago, where he learned what a powerful educational tool video can be and how hard classroom teaching is. He came to Teachers College to explore the cultural and social contexts in which education occurs and to try to learn something about "educational media." He couldn't be more fortunate than to find a place working with such a talented team of media producers and innovative educators at EdLab. Mostly, he just wants to tell stories. He thinks that stories are one of the most powerful ways people learn and teach, but constantly struggles with the problem that opportunities for storytelling are very unequally distributed.
