Wei An is a Software Development Associate at EdLab, and a graduate student in Computer Science department of Columbia University. He completed his BE degree in Electronic Information Science and Technology at Tsinghua University.
Wei An is interested in implementing technologies and developing novel products. In Columbia, he participates in a semester-long project on PLab programming language design under the guidance of Professor Alfred V. Aho. Besides coding and testing, he takes active part in designing the functionality and structure of the language. He also did several projects in Web development, machine learning, information retrieval, data mining, and operating system.
During his undergraduate study, he worked in Tsinghua National Laboratory for Information Science and Technology as a research assistant for two semesters. He designed a super-resolution algorithm, which improves the quality of reconstructed images and ensures the authenticity of image details. He discovered his interests in machine learning techniques during this experience.
