Naoko was born in Matsumoto, Japan, the place of the first sarin gas attack. Luckily, she was not involved in the attack.
When she was 18, the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics was held in her hometown. Having lots of guests from abroad led her to start to be interested in foreign cultures and foreign languages.
She received her B.A. in Sociology from Rikkyo University, in Tokyo. Her graduation thesis was the relationship of mass media and natural environmental issues.
Naoko worked for Merck & Co. Ltd., for four years. She quit job and left Japan for New York to study business English about a year ago.
She is learning video editing and podcasting as an apprentice at EdLab’s MDC.
