As technology continues to play an integral part of daily lives, it is very important that we start teaching the next generation about certain aspects of technology. Today, I was fortunate to give back to the community of Utica (as the children museum) by helping kids understand the definition of computer and helping them with some basic computer programming skills as well. It was a great experience and I enjoyed every second of it. I left feeling more hopeful about the impact the next generation will be able to make on the world through technology.
I hope everyone is doing fine. Since I have a combined interested in software and robotics, I decided to create 6 axis of Rotation robot arm (6 DOF Robot Arm) that will detect an object, pick, place and push. This robot can be controlled autonomously or using a PlayStation 3 controller with a Bluetooth connection.
The robot consists of:
6 DOF Robot Arm
Six servos (MG 966R)
Arduino Uno R3
Ssc-32 servo controller lynxmotion
Batteries (6v for the servo)
Governor Andrew Cuomo is giving students regarding their loan payments by offering a set of options. Under his plan, two years of federal student loan debt will be forgiven for students who graduated in 2014. Even though this program offers a lot of benefits for students earning less than 50,000, I still think it's a great program that will help students pay their loans without stressing. Read more here.
How do we best prepare today's students to become innovative thinkers? According to Pat Yongpradit, chief officer of code.org, computer is the foundation of all jobs and students must learn programming at an early age to set the bar. "This movement is about making sure that kids can use CS to learn, innovate, and express themselves in all interests and career fields" he said.
As a computer engineering student myself, I strongly believe that students should have a basic knowledge of computer Science. Technology is here to...
About 7 in 10 recent college graduates carry student debt. The average graduate owes close to $30,000. Technology might have a transformative impact to help parents and student can do something about the loans. The problem from K-12 all the way to graduate school is that every year, things cost more, but student performance remains stagnant and some even become worse. One way to fix this problem is to take online courses. For example, Georgia Tech’s online masters program in computer sc...
Technologies are being embedded into every aspect of our lives, and even though they have endless benefits and advantages in our well being and existence, they have also destroyed some fundamental skills and knowledge we one day relied on. Technology is ruining our handwriting, the elegant script that was demanded of our parents and grandparents. Technology is constantly increasing communication speeds, and often anticipating words before our brains can send signals to our fingers and its affecting our brain fr...
Grades have and continue to be the best way teachers reflect student learning. We know good grades gets you into better schools and leads to better career opportunities. However, are grades the best way to assess student learning? We misunderstand that the whole purpose of education is learning. We focus so much on students’ grade point averages that we sometimes fail to analyze whether they are mastering the material.
This testing culture has led some students to pressure to cut corners, sacrifice ethics, and take easier courses, all in an effort to achieve better grades instead of better...
The rise of technology and need for better ways to educate students means more schools are shifting from hardcover textbooks to digital textbooks. Thousands of colleges and universities textbooks are offered online and are also available on Apple’s iTunes U store for download at respective purchase prices. The price of an online textbook is very convenient compared to hardcover textbooks.
Tablet computers offers better advantages such connectivity...
This past semester I decided to put my knowledge into practice by creating something that defined me as an engineering student. I worked on a personal project that also counted as an extra credit for my Microprocessor and Emended system class. I created a RC Car that would be controlled by android devices via Bluetooth. It might sound too technical but it is fairly simple. I used the following tools:
Motor Drive: It allows you to control all four wheels of the RC car.
Arduino Board: a very powerful ...
Were you concerned about the gas prices? No need to worry, General Electric and other Silicon Valley electrical industries got you covered. Electric and rechargeable vehicles are now at the heart of the 21st century technological invention. More vehicles, planes and even motorcycles are becoming like our cell phones or any other device that require electricity. Engineers and scientists are busy working day and night to make our lives simple and save us few bucks for gas in the process. Electri...
