This article talks about President Obama's opinion on the current state of law schools. The President argues that law school should be two years instead of three for various reasons. Taking a third year out of law school would surely reduce costs for the students but it can also hurt the law schools' finances and ability to have a strong faculty. I also wonder if law schools would still be as good, but it will save students alot of money and debt. I feel some of these law sch...
Check out this article of President Obama's plans to make college more affordable. Today, the average tuition at four year colleges has tripled over the past three decades as on average, students are left with $26,000 in debt upon graduation. Although President Obama hasn't quite flushed out his proposals, the focus will be on middle class families. I wonder what proposals he will make and if they will get approved. I find it surprising that the tuitio...
I've been creating a set of videos about new technology we will eventually see in the classroom of the future as part of the Vialogues Ambassador Program. My recent video, posted below, is about the importance of technology in classrooms. The video provide statistics about technology and education in America and explains the importance of technology in classrooms. What are your thoughts on the statistics shown? Are you surprised? Please feel free to join the discussion on Vialogues.
So this week I've been mainly uploading videos on Vialogues about technology in classrooms. I had videos of new technology that are used in today's classrooms as you rarely see textbooks and pencils. You see technology devices and computers, but in this video I didn't like the technology they used. This device prevented students from engaging with the teacher and students used this device mainly to answer the questions the teacher gave. I think in school you must learn to communicate, among others and this device prevented it by not giving the students the chance to communicate with everyone e...
The Vialogues below shows how technology has expanded in schools. Education is now taught more with the use of technology and thus making it easier for teachers and students. It also shows the use of technology by students after school. What are your thoughts on technology and education? What makes technology and education go well together? What will we see in future classrooms in 10-20years?
The video below highlights a soccer academy in Ghana that provides its youth members with both soccer and education. This academy reminds me of my own soccer club because my club also uses soccer as a tool for change, especially in terms of members education. My soccer club emphasizes more having its members focus not only on soccer but on their education, finishing high school and moving on to college. But I find that using soccer as part of the education process is very important as it is the most played sport in the world and has a way of attracting and convincing young people to stay focus...
The video below is a series of interviews with people about how they started their respective careers. As expected, most of them cite an early interest in their career and eventually decided to pursue it. Has your career been influenced by your childhood interests? Please feel free to join the discussion on Vialogues. I would love to see if anybody has a connection or similar story to any of these people.
Check out the Vialogue below on college students' views on attending college and their situations as well. They talk a lot about their struggles and goals toward the present and future. These students are more than a year in a college and also give advice to future college students especially regarding things they wished they knew before entering college. Join the discussion on Vialogues and feel free to leave your thoughts and comments.
A group of US Senators reached a deal Wednesday that would offer students better rates on their student loans this coming fall though higher rates could be seen in the coming years. This deal would offer students lower interest rates through the 2015 academic year but the rates are expected to rise above what they were since students left campus this past spring. The interest rates would link to the financial markets but Democrats won a protection for students that rates would never climb any higher than 8.25 percent for undergraduate students. What are your thoughts on the deal? Does it l...
Last month, the Obama Administration gave access to emergency contraception across the country. It allowed the best known pill, Pill B One-Step, to become a prescription only to those 17 years and older that could be bought over the counter. This emergency contraception is a big help for many students who have had unprotected intercourse. Plan B is a pill that decrease the chances of pregnancy once you take the pill within a 3-5 day period. Sometimes the pill could work up to seven days but the sooner, the better. This Plan B pill helps many students continue to reach their future by preventin...
