The New Museum's Festival of Ideas for the New City StreetFest this past weekend featured a healthy abundance of technologically and socially creative vendors like Kickstarter, Ghana Think Tank and The Laundromat Project, as well as fantastic local food vendors and fun events like free iPad street portrait sittings (The Drawing Center) and a Freitag bag "Compost Canteen" with free corn soup and 200 limited edition bags given away. The whole event seemed to be a particularly successful blend of art, commerce, analog and digital technology with people spending enjoyable physical time with one another, a difficult balance to achieve.
