A Baron for All Industries
When people discuss the best CEOs, Jeff Bezos' name is often drowned out by the hymns of Steve Jobs devotees, but Bezos' recent acquisition of The Washington Post has forced everyone to write a little something about him. My favorite piece so far is this one from Michael Moritz
, chairman of Sequoia Capital, laying out how Bezos made Amazon outstanding. I've always been impressed by the fact that Amazon's offerings are incredibly diverse (retail, publishing, cloud, etc) and they dominate the markets for nearly all of them. Moritz stays away from Bezos' tax crusade and doesn't speculate on why Bezos bought the WP in the first place, but it's a good read and the shareholder letters are insightful.
