Blackboard Going Private

Blackboard Inc, the maker of online educational software has announced that its going private. The company is being purchased by the private equity firm Providence Equity Partners for $1.64 billion. Providence Equity Partners, a global investment firm which focuses mainly on media, entertainment, information and educational investments will be paying $45 per share, 4 percent higher than blackboard's stock closing of $43.39 on thursday.
