NYAS Event: The Intersection of Data and Design
"Data are as ubiquitous as the air we breathe. With the combination of sensors, computing, math and creativity, data collection and visualization can engage students in new ways of seeing and reporting upon their world."
Mark Hansen from UCLA's Statistics Dept is coming to the NYAS (WTC #7)
to give a talk on intelligent design of data visualizations. The focus is on how best to communicate complex insights gleaned from large data using novel visualization techniques. He also explores DataViz problems as a means of engaging students in Maths and Sciences. This cuts across the competencies cultivated at the EdLab from education research to design to engineering.
