Dev Team, Summer 2020 Report

The dev team continues to support the library and college by adding new and exciting features to our tech-ecosystem and keeping all our systems and services running and updated.


Library App Relaunched: Our biggest push this semester was updating the TC Library app and relaunching it on the App Store and Google Play store. We’ve made several updates / additions to the app, including -

  • Adding library events to the homepage.
  • Integration with Freshchat for real-time messaging.
  • New Course Reserves link.
  • Added six new pages (Mission-Vision-Values; Copyright; Request a Library Information Session; Paging and Pick Up; Digital Delivery; Requesting New Materials).
  • Updated library calendar / hours.
  • Added library address.
  • Updated images, thumbnails, styles, and copy throughout.


Library Website Updates: Our most used product continues to get regular updates to met new requirements, including -

  • Revamped Search with closer integration with Summon.
  • Monthly Cafe and Staff Picks virtual book displays.
  • Updated the style and layout of the quick links buttons.
  • Updated Library hours and calendar displays.
  • Added the TC COVID-19 Community Archive banner and form.
  • Displaying two latest ‘Learning at the Library’ blog posts on the homepage.
  • Added six new pages (Mission-Vision-Values; Copyright; Request a Library Information Session; Paging and Pick Up; Digital Delivery; Requesting New Materials).
  • Updated links for Course Reserves.
  • Updated PayPal integration for payments.
  • Updated ftp server for daily feed files.
  • Updated Library iPad displays content and styles.
  • Fine-tune blog editor.


Other Work:

  • Updated SSL certificates.
  • Sync patron information.
  • Update tech documentation.
  • Added support for '.srt' filetype closed captions in Vialogues.
