Spring 2016 Room Report
Last Spring was a great time to visit the Library, construction notwithstanding. Once again we were able to provide space for a ton of events. In our twelve available classrooms, 1009 patrons booked 5,933 events with enough space for 41,528 participants to get their study on for 12,369 hours. Those hours were full of 1,460 study sessions, 590 course sessions, 136 dissertation preps and defenses, 261 interviews and telecons, and 425 technology setups by our Service Team. Students once again made 57% of our room reservations by volume (thank you again, students!). This semester it was our light-capacity rooms on the third floor with the heaviest rotation. Adding up those four 1-4 person rooms (303, 304, 307, and 308) makes up about 38% of our event volume. Counts range from Room 308 with 610 events all the way down to Room 306 with 288. In general, you might notice that this is quite a bit more than we saw in the earlier half of the academic year. event_counts In terms of time utilization, ten of our twelve rooms were occupied for over a thousand hours each. If we're open a hundred hours a week for 16 weeks, then our 12369 hours booked put us right around 12369 / (12 * 100 * 16) = 64% occupancy. Not bad! duration_counts Be sure to post your room traffic insights in the comments!
