The Supremes: A New Book Collection
160314_exhibit_219x365You might be wondering what the biggest 60's American female singing group from Detroit has to do with the Gottesman Libraries? Not too much, really -- other than that they share the same title with the latest Everett Cafe book collection: The Supremes, on display now, through April 30th. It's not Motown that's landed here, with divas Florence Ballard, Mary Wilson, Diana Ross, and Betty McGlown, but a few other vocal legends: Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Thurgood Marshall, Sandra Day O'Connor, William H. Renquist, Earl Warren, and Sonia Sotomayor. The display is prompted by the recent death of Associate Justice Antonin Scalia, who became legendary, among other accomplishments, for holding the longest seat of the nine judges currently presiding on the Supreme Court. We present a range of highly interesting books, from law to literature, that provoke deep thought and discussion about the history of the highest court of our land and our interpretation of punishment. Our nation eagerly awaits nominations; our books welcome reading! And you might just hear a little R&B, pop, or soul, if you hang around long enough in Everett Cafe....
