2018 NERA Conference

I am attending the 2018 Northeastern Educational Research Conference at Trumbull, CT. The travel is relatively painless (one hour of driving). The conference is held at Trumbull Marriott Shelton annually.

The main objective for me this year is to present our work, Automated Text Analysis of Document and Reference Similarities - An Application of LDA Topic Modeling. The paper I submitted is somewhat on the technical side (like most of my writings). So I prepared a presentation similar to the paper. But after attending a couple sessions on Wednesday afternoon, I felt most of the attendees are on the other side of the quantitative/qualitative spectrum. So I decided to whip up a non-technical version of the presentation over night. I am proud to say it is one of the few presentations I gave that don't have Greek letters (almost). The presentation went well yesterday. I even had several people asking questions!

Here are the presentation slides.

I attended some sessions on topics in psychometrics and technology. I'll share these later.
