A Special Need for Technology
Educational inclusion can be defined as teaching everyone in the classroom, including children with physical, mental, and developmental disabilities. The Individuals with Disability Education Act (IDEA) assures that students, age 3 to 21, in need of special education will receive it for free. However, limited resources can cause such policies to be a setback. The introduction of digital technology have made learning more efficient for the less than 1 percent of students affected by blindness and hearing impairments. Through the InnovateNJ program, students from various schools in New Jersey learn deductive reasoning, programing, and how to code through Ozobot. Students also use Google Hangout to share projects and other works to peers in partnered schools.
