Music Education is Important
The lack of creative opportunities for students in our public schools due to testing and budget cuts is at an alarming rate. Music and arts are often the first face to the music when it comes to cuts.
The New Haven Community schools
didn’t know the advantages of music education on their students. They regularly cut their music program when they were facing budget pitfalls. After putting their budget problems behind them, and with support from the community, the schools have brought back their music program and are noticing its impact on their students. Music aids students in so many ways such as improving their brains in the use of language and reasoning.
Music and arts education needs to be treated equally compared to other educational courses. The rewards outweigh the costs and policies. The New Haven Community schools should serve as an example.
