EdLab Seminar: The Watershed
"[A watershed is] that area of land, a bounded hydrologic system, within which all living things are inextricably linked by their common water course and where, as humans settled, simple logic demanded that they become part of a community." - John Wesley Powell Upon entering "The Watershed Experience," visitors will be astonished by the elemental power of moving water, and be swept into a powerful exploration of the effect of policy on educational infrastructure. photo 2 (3) photo 1 (4) As you can see in the above prototypes, visitors will undertake an hour-long experience and move through four major eras of educational history. Upon coming across a landmark policy decision, a group of visitors will have the choice whether or not to enact it. Depending on what they choose, they will be swept into the next moment of "history" where they experience the outcome of their decision — experiencing the impact of architectural space on learning experience. The final policy decision will be present-day, and the final experience in The Watershed will be a virtual visit to the future!
