Bio:

When Suzanne graduated from Wellesley College, she knew that she wanted to put her academic work in feminist theory and anthropology into some kind of meaningful practice. But first, she had to fulfill a subconscious wish to emulate Winona Ryder's character, Lelaina, in Reality Bites. This desire was manifest in short-lived, spellbinding stints as a video store clerk, a financial analyst and an unkempt TV addict; By some stroke of luck, she escaped the sloth and helped to found Excel Academy Charter School, a middle school in East Boston. There she created and implemented the school's first social studies and sex education curricula, as well as violence and harassment prevention programming. Now a student in the Ed.M. program in counseling psychology at Teachers College and member of an interpersonal violence prevention research team, she plans to earn a Ph.D. in counseling or clinical psychology in the hopes of creating a theory of practice for counseling transgender clients. In her spare time, Suzanne enjoys scheming up ways to get out of paying for brunch, downloading pictures of washed-up celebrities, and singing along to children's television shows.
