Companies ranging from Amazon to Google (they seem more and more similar these days!) are partnering to create a powerful lobbying group, "The Internet Association." Sounds a bit ominous? No?! The goal of this yet-to-be-officially-launched association is to strike-down any legislation that gets in the way of a "free" and "open" internet (think SOPA legislation). Do you feel this move is purely to maintain their business interests or do you feel that their efforts will help us all to enjoy an unrestricted internet experience? What implications might these efforts have for education? New media literacy?

Although the incentive may be a greedy one, they are doing something very important in protecting our online liberties, as they mostly coincide with their interests. The music industry and others have their powerful lobbying groups. It's about time for the people to have one too.

Hey, i think that this move was made to just maintain their business interests. I also believe that the combination of all the companies will be useful in away that will it will give a wide range and also be a positive source of any type of new media literacy.
