I came across this article about millennials and the potential benefits they are capable of bringing to companies. As we know, the economic recession of 2008 has been difficult for most Americans, especially millennials, most of who have had to put their careers and goals on hold. A lack of job opportunities coupled with the fact that most available jobs are reserved for experienced workers mean millennials have been left in the dust when it comes to employment.

A recent study however could lead employers to think twice about millennials. According to a recent study, millenials tend to show more concern and interest towards their jobs than other groups.

Wanting to be successful and/or create their own business, millennials tend to work more and show a lot more passion towards their jobs in order to develop new skills and improve old ones. Such things make them lower their desire for a big salary, among others.

The EdLab has a decent amount of millennials on its staff. I would like hear your thoughts on this.

Companies in the business field are certainly more reluctant to hire millennials than employers in say the tech field. Business employers usually look for experience (something most millennials lack) while tech employers look for young, fresh creative minds which can be found in the millenial age group.

I think if I was an employer and was hiring, I will hire Millenials because being one, I know for sure that they will learn from what’s going on at the place and try to create their own business. As the article points out, millenials are very in tune with whats happening technologically and follow trends more than their experienced colleagues and as social networks have become a medium for companies to seek and increase their user base, millenials could serve as the spark to bring about that increase most companies so desire.

I agree with you Carmel. But let's not forget that experience can be crucial in a business or a company. Millennial may be a big help for you but experienced worker can develop more ideas to put your company on top and create an equilibrium, which is not certain with millennial. Also, there is no doubt in the fact that millennial are the greatest advertisers.

Millennial are the generation born between the late 1970's and late 1990's. We can all consider ourselves qualify to be a millennial as our birthdate varies between 1970's and early 1990's.

Khalil, a millennial is generally considered the group of people between the ages 18-24. So you and I would be considered millennials. Oumar, thanks for blogging about this, in my opinion I think we millennials are very tech savvy and will bring many benefits to an organization, least of which is our familiarity with online trends. Additionally, millenials bring their youthful energy and a novice approach to the company, which could help drive many projects forward.
