A team of medical wizards at Boston’s Children Hospital has developed a new piece of particles that allow one to live without breathing. They designed micro particles that go into your bloodstream and fills one’s blood with oxygen even if you cannot breathe any more. Scientists say that this breakthrough can save millions of lives because it keeps people alive for fifteen to thirty minutes even in the face of respiratory failure. These micro particles are composed of oxygen gas inside pocket of layered lipids which function like a cell membrane. Scientists took this solution of micro particles and inject it first into the veins of animals that were experiencing critical lung failure. The solution immediately restored oxygen to the animals and gave them minutes of life. Dr. John Kheir, who led the research team, talks about the previous problems they had about developing this solution. Previous solutions consisted of gas embolism, which is when gas bubbles form and prevents circulation.

Obviously, one huge benefit of having this solution is in the emergency room, but there are other ways the solution can be used like space or going underwater without an oxygen tank. Wow science is amazing! Unfortunately this wonder drug is not out yet but I will be sure to let you know when its release. So if you can breathe without breathing, would you rather swim to the depths of the ocean or roam around space and why?

This is truly a medical breakthrough. Hospital patients who are going to be the immediate beneficiaries of this are that of lung cancer patients. It will make their cancer treatment process far less painful and give their lungs much needed relief.

With these new inventions by scientist to better our way of living, more lives can be saved if Doctors had equipment’s of such years ago, many would have survived.

I am speechless to this invention. I always knew scientists were going to create something like this. I'm actually waiting on the first human being hands made.

Really? I believe science is moving fast and so is technology but will that ever be possible? Same question I ask when people talk about a time machine, I don't think that will ever be possible.

This is amazing, science has really come a long way. I wonder do you still have to cover your nose and mouth while you are under water? Because if you don't and water goes inside of you wouldn't that effect you in some way, if you still literally breath it in? I would love to swim to the depths of the ocean it would be a wonderful experience, hoping there isn't any animals that see me as their prey.

This is exactly what I was thinking too. Depending on how this stuff affects your blood pressure I suppose it's possible it could even prevent you from getting the bends. The world of underwater exploration will never be the same.

I was also thinking, if we can help so many people survive longer, could it effect the size of the population? Do you think it can get to the point that we will over populate?

Well over population is an ongoing problem with or without this particle. The average age of death has been increasing throughout the years. In my opinion, its nothing to worry so much about yet. It's just nice that advancement in medicine allows people to live easier and less painfull lives while they exist.

You are right. I was just looking at this from every point of view. Since time goes by fast and all I can imagine this question being asked if a lot of people are surviving/ being saved from dying, if the average age of death continues to increase.

Well Francisco you have to hold you breath closing both your nose and mouth. The particle gives you oxygen so you able to hold you breath for so long.
