For any business to be successful, there are some almost certain universal features or resources it must have such as capital, staff, a vision and a strong user base, among others. As a result of this, starting a business is always a risk for any aspiring entrepreneur. An entrepreneur has to be willing to take criticism and get back up from failing in their recent opportunities. The entrepreneur has to be determined. They have to act towards any opportunity that comes their way. This is especially true for small business, especially the ones that need to be located at a physical location. Location is one of the key elements in the success of any business and finding the right one could determine the ultimate success or failure of that business.

There are some business friendly cities in the U.S. that helps businesses such as Oklahoma City, Dallas, San Antonio, Austin, Atlanta, Colorado Springs, and Omaha. Oklahoma City ranked first on CNN Money’s list of business friendly cities. Oklahoma City was first mainly because it has a low cost of living, which inevitably helps small businesses. The fact that small businesses have been helped by a growth in consumers, due to population increases, is another reason.

Location is a real important factor in business. However, I think that know your costumer is another big thing. You should know how the people are in a certain location and see if it matches with what your business is. For example, in New York people are constantly in a rush and on the go so your business should include fast service and stuff that are on the go.

I find it interesting how a lot of these business friendly cities are located in the sun belt region of the United States. I wont be surprised if in the future cities in that region have a population comparable to that of New York City since their quality of living is so high.

Jeff, the situation of whether your business succeeds or not depends on your physical location and, also on the customers you've targeted for your products. I believe there is prosperity in cities in construction such as Oklahoma. As you pointed out, the costs associated with living and then maintaining a business in New York is one of the primary reasons why most companies, especially new ones, tend to favor locations where they can cut costs.

The cost of living in New York is very high but we have a rapid population growth and this makes me wonder whether small businesses can thrive or fail in this city.

Carmel , also when opening a new business you need to be able to take a risk. Since Oklahoma City has a low cost of living it helps out businesses, but what are the main businesses that are succeeding in the top cities? How can New York be business friendly if it is very expensive?

The section in the article on Colorado Springs made me really hopeful for the future. It proves that cities can be environmentally friendly and still turn a profit. It's great to see them take that mentality, no doubt aided by the gorgeous scenery behind the city.
