I've arrived in Rome, the site for 12th Annual IEEE Conference on Advanced Learning Technologies. The conference begins tomorrow, so I walked around nearby today. On the first day, the city felt like a maze, with little visible street names, carved on the wall of the first building in a street. Surprisingly, I met an Indian cab driver in my first cab ride.

After checking in at the hotel, I got some time to see the Colosseum. Standing there, looking at the Colosseum, it was not hard to imagine the intensity of the arena during the gladiator contests.

While asking for road directions, I learnt that not many people speak English or prefer to speak English over Italian. So, sometimes, I walked in circles, and interacted with people speaking slowly and using metaphors.

In the evening, I pre-registered for the conference and chatted with some people from the conference.

Looking forward to the conference tomorrow.

More updates to follow.
