Who Knows What You're Passionate About?

What's your social media bucket of choice? Pinterest? Instagram? Twitter? Facebook? Where do you share/post your experiences? Who do you share your ideas with? Why? Why not? Why not more?

Is it just the people at EdLab, or do you take it beyond? Who else gives you feedback on your ideas (beyond EdLab quarters)?

I'm curious to hear the EdLab response :)

Janice, great question! I love this image as well... you should Tweet it at Henrik & @EdLabTC! ;) My social media conduit of choice is Twitter... I even have founders reach-out to me that way or send a thank you after an event etc. I think it is the most easily curated, relevant and least redundant source of "news."

Great question! I think it really depends on the purpose of the interaction!

I still have a soft spot in my heart for facebook on a personal level. I post fun pictures from the weekend, wish friends a happy birthday, and I like to see what other people are up to.

And I also love pinterest, but for two very specific personal endeavors. The first is cooking, it's so easy to search for something like "spring dinner" or "asparagus" and to see an array of dinner options. I have found many great recipes on pinterest. The second reason I use pinterest is wedding planning...for every decision I make, I first peruse ideas and options on pinterest.

But in a professional sense, I actually still use google reader. I use it as an RSS feed to stay up to date on blog posts and I usually express field related questions in the comments sections of blogs. I also think a professional twitter account is a good place to express project ideas or even grandiose missions for society reform, education reform and how we should move forward with information literacy.

Rebecca, I'm curious to know, if you're willing to share, what are some of your favorite and most inspiring blogs that you follow related to education reform and information literacy? I regularly use Google Reader to keep up with some of the latest professional conversations in the library "blogosphere," and I am always looking for more good conversations to join.

Thanks so much, Rebecca! What a great list!

I follow several of the same blogs, some more closely than others, and I am excited to add The Kept-Up Academic Librarian and Inside Higher Ed to my feed. As for library blogs, I also try to follow Michael's Stephen's blog Tame the Web, David Lanke's blog, and a blog for LIS students called Hack Library School. I also like to follow Nicholas Carr's blog Rough Type, since I think he adds a brilliant and controversial voice in the conversation on technology and culture.
