Today I learned via Twitter that one of Pearson's (many - there are over 37,000 employees!) divisions just featured my live-blog coverage of a recent General Assembly discussion. The focus of this event was on the LMS of the future and current issues in online education for higher-ed. Adrian Sannier was the speaker and provided one of the most animated and passionate edtech discussions I have yet to witness (there was even a bit of floor rolling and "almost" chair throwing!).
Here are some additional take-aways from the Sannier talk from my live-blog:
1) Mining big data to identify insight will save us... teaching as if the ed field were a cottage industry will kill us.
2) The future of online learning will more closely resemble a turn-key "Xbox" or video-game-based learning experience: personalized, adaptive and tracked.
3) Whoever gets to scale first, controls the game & the conversation... we are two orders of magnitude away from teaching everyone on the planet.
