The Guardian reports on "a new online tool developed by Google with the help of scientists at Harvard University. The massive searchable database is being hailed as the key to a new era of research in the humanities, linguistics and social sciences that has been dubbed "culturomics"." I know I will be spending a good deal of time playing around with this site: it will be exciting to see the projects and papers it enables.

Pretty neat.
We are trying to do similar analysis with TCR, to identify popular words by year and to trace their mention over the years.

Pretty cool -- seems like they applied the existing Google Trends tool to their book data. (It would be interesting to know if this took one engineer one week, or 50 engineers 50 weeks...)
