When I heard the news about the new Blackberry phone, I thought it was going to be a great improvement that might persuade me to go back as I currently have an iPhone. But I came across this article that reveals facts about the phone that quickly changed my mind. Apparently the phone is still lacking many things that would help it compete against phones like the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. One of the crucial things that changed my mind was that it has a small amount of apps for people to download.

One of the things I like about my iPhone is looking at the Apps store and seeing what new things are available for me to download. The aforementioned article notes that you would only be able to download apps like Facebook and other social networking sites in addition to probably a few games that are not popular now. But despite the fact that it has a lot of downsides, here’s a video that shows the best features of the new Blackberry.

I came across this article that talks about people's fantasy smartphone, and I thought it was interesting because I never really thought about my fantasy smartphone would look like. Of course, one of the main features would be long lasting battery power. I feel that it is very essential to have a phone that is able to go through most of the day without being charged even after frequent use.

However, it would be very amazing if there was a phone with a holographic screen where you type, search things up and do pretty much all the same functions but in a better way. Of course it’s something that is only seen in movies for now but one could imagine all the things that could be done in the future. What would your fantasy smartphone look like?

I came across this article that discussed the 20 apps that people might find interesting and useful to have on their mobile devices. Out of the 20 apps I found, five particularly grabbed my attention. Two of these apps dealt with typing in a touch screen phone. I know many times, it can get annoying because you might misspell certain words because your fingers are too big or you just not use to typing on that screen. Well these two different apps were created to make typing on a touch screen mobile device way easier. One of the apps' main focus is to be able to do a spell check, where it will very accurately predict what you attempted to type even if the word is completely misspelled. The other app focuses more on being able to type faster and easier without having to lift your finger. Here is the list of the five apps that seem to have caught my attention the most:

  1. Haze

Digital Classrooms

I recently came across the video below where Bill Gates talks about digital classrooms and how to improve learning. He brings up a lot of points that I felt were very interesting. For example, he talks about how college education can be beneficial if it’s done right; if things are done correctly most of the time, people would be able to pay off loans and end up with good jobs. But if it’s done wrong, people drop out of college and end up with loans they can't pay off.

Gates also talks about how community colleges are stacking up classrooms with students and feels this is not a great way to learn. As a student, I feel he is right about this as most of the time, it’s difficult to listen to what a professor says because your too far back.

Do you agree that digital classrooms would improve learning?

Government in Action Video Game

I recently came across this article which talks about an interactive game created to make learning about Congress more fun. The game was made for college freshmen taking American government courses. The game was true because the course was so complex that they needed to go through every single chapter in a textbook, and many times it's difficult to keep students' interest that way.

The way it is played is amazing as you actually get elected to the House of Representatives and charged with making all the hard decisions in order to win people over and get re-elected again in two years. Compared to reading a textbook everyday, I feel that this game would help students learn way more about Congress than just reading a book. Actually having students play a game would not only make them learn more about it but also would help them become more interested in learning about that subject. I posted a video on Vialogues about this and hope that you can check it out.

Most of you have already heard about Google’s new invention, the Google glasses, and I am not sure if all of you are aware of what it can do. I recently posted a video on Vialogues that shows just what this device is capable of. It is a CNN report regarding the highly talked about Google glasses, what concerns me the most about these glasses is the price. These glasses are worth $1,500 which would be something critical when it comes to thinking about purchasing these glasses.

Although they do have a lot of great stuff, I am not so sure people would want to spend that much money on it. I hope you can view this video and comment whether or not you might agree or disagree with the price.

I recently blogged about an upcoming event in Barcelona, Spain where the latest gadgets would be unveiled for the first time. I came across this article that shows a few of the hottest gadgets that would be shown at the aforementioned conference. As I looked through all these new mobile devices, it amazes me the work these companies have been putting into the devices. For example, one of the things that caught my attention was the waterproof tablet that Sony had created, as well as the waterproof smartphone created by Huawei. Most of us have dropped our phones and other portable electronics in water at some point so I am sure this is welcomed news. Here are a few of the mobile devices that I thought were interesting:

Sony Xperia Tablet Z

Cyber Criminals

The amount of cyber criminals has been increased in recent years. I came across this article that talks about the dangers on information mobile devices and other electronics contain. Apparently there are new tricks cyber criminals have been using lately that might just put your bank information at risk. According to the article, some cyber criminals have developed mobile sites that could seem like a legitimate banking site but really tricks people into submitting their personal information.

With this in mind, I would be more careful when it comes to filling out this type of information anywhere, especially on my phone. Mobile devices have become the most targeted now for being the easiest place to trick people into giving away their information. It is just awful to know that this has been going on and that people are at risk for falling to these traps. I feel that most people are unaware that such things are happening, and even if they did, I doubt that this could ever be stop. Awareness might help people avoid these traps. What are your thoughts on these cyber criminals?

Last Friday, a meteor hit Russia and caught everyone by surprise as it was not expected that such a thing would happen. When I heard this, I was shocked and looked further where I found several videos of the meteor hitting land. The damage was caused by this meteor was terrifying, and to think no one had seen this coming. I posted a video on Vialogues, which is a news report from CNN that went back to the scene of the meteor's landing and also interviewed a few students who were near the area. I hope you can check it out and leave your thoughts on this rare event.
